Building

During my bible study, I came across the following in the Matthew Henry commentary on
1Ki 6: 1-10

"It is not time lost which is spent in composing ourselves for the work of God, and disentangling ourselves from every thing which might distract or divert us. During this time he was adding to the preparations which his father had made (1 Chr. 22:14), hewing the stone, squaring the timber, and getting every thing ready, so that he is not to be blamed for slackness in deferring it so long. We are truly serving God when we are preparing for his service and furnishing ourselves for it."

I love that it says it's not time lost when we are spending our time composing ourselves for God's work; sometimes it can get discouraging when we feel like we are not yet walking in the vision the Lord gave us, but I'm seeing how the time of preparation is just as important as the actual walking in the calling and destiny. That all the pieces, the materials, the equipping, the building is preparing our hearts for the service and destiny He has set out and planned for us to do.

Also in reading about the details in the building of the temple of God, it's awesome and beautiful what God put in the heart of men to create for Himself. That God desires to build earthly temples, each of us, our bodies are temples of His Holy Spirit and Presence. That He is the builder

1Cr 3:10	By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds.
Hbr 3:3	Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
Hbr 3:4	For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
Hbr 11:10	For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

That does something to my heart, to know that God is the builder. There's a peace when you realize it's not all up to you! sigh of relief! And that He will make it a beautiful dwelling place! God loves and desires and creates things beautifully and majestically!
